John Haynes was a school teacher in Northern England and when he heard Rev. Lloyd appealing for young men to come to Canada to train as clergy, he took up the call and arrived in Saskatoon in 1910 and studied at Emmanuel College. John Haynes was married to Susanna Margaret Love (1894 - 1945). Their son, John Stewart Haynes was killed in 1942 in World War II and is buried in North Shields, Northumberland, England.

Canon Haynes took ill on Jan 6, 1945 and Mrs. Haynes the following day. Mrs. Haynes died following emergency surgery on Jan
19th and Canon Haynes died two months later
on March 20th . Canon and Mrs. Haynes served
the parish for nine years.
