The Byrt family had long been active in St. John’s Minster. Don was baptized and confirmed here, and graduated from the local high school.
His first calling as clergy here was as an Assistant in the 1980’s before returning as Rector (1997 - 2000). From Lloydminster, he went on to join the Synod office staff in the Diocese of Saskatoon under the leadership of Bishop Tom Morgan, as Archdeacon.
Later, he returned to parish work in Saskatoon, before retiring there.
